Q Why does the extreme skeptic think, as most of us do, that water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit? Shouldn't the skeptic think that water does not freeze at this temperature? Otherwise, why is the skeptic a skeptic?
Skepticism or doubting the validity of certain things can be regarded as a form of thought and a mode of reasoning which helps us to arrive at facts and truths about the existing reality. There are indeed varying degrees of skepticism but they are all guided by a major concern for avoiding sweeping generalizations or acceptance of things based on its face value or beliefs based on appeal to authority. It was seen as a panacea for bailing mankind out of its position of servitude by making him realize his true potentials as someone who has the capability to arrive at facts through excavating the hidden truth.
